Floyd County Head Start Birth to Five

Your child's health and nutrition are the base of their educational success.  A child that is healthy and has their basic needs met is ready to learn!

Our program partners with the family and providers to ensure resources are available to meet your child's needs. Head Start screens all children early, like hearing and vision, to ensure your child's development is on track. Nutrition is essential to your child's growth and development.  Head Start assists in helping your child meet their daily nutritional needs by providing meals approved by the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP). The meals include all food groups and are the correct portions for your child. Nutrition education is provided to your child during meals and in the classroom as part of their regular school day.

Health and Nutrition are essential components of your child's experience at Head Start and critical factors for their health, happiness and success!
